The Luxmore Grunt EventDon't forget your rain jacket, the forecast for this Saturday, 5th December 2015, looks like it might be a wet one for the Kepler Challenge and Luxmore Grunt Mountain Run. Ref: metservice.com/rural/southland Go Yuki!This will be Queenstown Staff member, Yuki’s first ever Luxmore Grunt mountain run. With a 8.2km climb to the highest point of the Kepler Track, the Luxmore Hut check point at 1085m, the run is fittingly named. Yuki at the summit of Ben Lomond Yuki will run the 27km mountain race, held on the first section of the Kepler Track in Te Anau. She will leave the start line taking an easy 5.6km to Brod Bay which will then turn to a steady, well graded 8.2km climb to the Luxmore Hut. From there Yuki will return back down the same track to the finish line. Yuki has been training hard in preparation for this event, running Ben Lomond with her Husband, Tsukasa as her personal trainer and great motivator, some say that he is the Japanese James Bond…….. Rain, Snow or Shine Yuki nothing has stopped Yuki training. The current women’s Race record for the Luxmore Grunt is: Shireen Crumpton 2:04:18 (1998) The ASICS Kepler Challenge will also be held on the same day on the 60 km Kepler Track circuit.
