We are seeking a passionate, motivated and experienced Store Manager to lead our brand-new Noosa store and establish Outside Sports' first Australian retail presence. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, driving sales performance, building a high-performing team and maintaining outstanding operational standards throughout the store.

Working closely with our Ecommerce, Purchasing and Marketing teams, you will help deliver a seamless omnichannel customer experience, ensure strong inventory management practices and support the successful execution of local and national marketing initiatives. This role requires a proactive leader who can work autonomously while collaborating effectively with colleagues across Australia and New Zealand.

As a fast-growing outdoor retailer, we are looking for someone who is excited by growth, embraces new challenges and is eager to contribute to the continued success of the business. You will have a genuine passion for the outdoors and ideally possess experience using outdoor products across categories such as hiking, camping, trail running, cycling, travel or snow sports.

Experience & Development

• Previous retail leadership or management experience is preferred.
• Experience within outdoor, sporting goods, lifestyle or specialty retail is highly regarded.
• Experience with Shopify POS and related retail technology platforms is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
• Experience working within an omnichannel retail environment, including supporting online orders and click-and-collect services, is advantageous.

• Provide outstanding customer service, including personalised support for Chinese-speaking customers.
• Greet customers, answer questions, and assist with product selection.
• Offer knowledgeable recommendations based on customer needs, particularly for hiking, camping, running and climbing.
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using Shopify.
• Maintain a clean, organised and visually appealing retail space.
• Stay informed on current product lines, promotions and outdoor trends.
• Translate product descriptions and signage when needed (Mandarin/English).
• Support inventory restocking and merchandise displays.
• Assist with in-store events, live demos and group shopping experiences for tourist groups.
• Assist our Rentals (snow, bike and trekking) team with their Mandarin speaking clients to make sure that the clients are delivered as good as experience as possible. To this end knowledge of and experience in Biking, Snow Sports and Trekking will be an added advantage in this role.

• Language Skills: Proven fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Passion for outdoor activities (bike, snow and trekking).
• Existing knowledge with outdoor gear and apparel.
• Retail or customer service experience, a minimum of two years is required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Team player with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to connect with international clientele.
  
  Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with POS systems;  Shopify and BRM (Bike Rental Manager).
• Experience serving Chinese tourists or international shoppers.
• Knowledge of Chinese payment systems (e.g., Alipay, WeChat Pay, UnionPay).
• Familiarity with Chinese travel habits and preferences in retail.

• Supporting the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations
• Leading from the front on the shop floor, delivering outstanding customer service
• Coaching and developing the team to achieve sales and service targets
• Driving product knowledge across outdoor gear, footwear and apparel
• Maintaining high visual merchandising and store presentation standards
• Assisting with stock management, inventory control and replenishment with our CIN7 Omni inventory management software
• Taking charge of the stores e commerce operations, supervising the picking, packing and postage of online sales, utilising our CIN7 Omni and Shopify Plus systems.
• Owning and actively managing shop floor coverage to ensure consistent staff presence, particularly at the front of store
• Leading loss prevention efforts on shift, with a strong focus on reducing stock shrinkage
• Proactively managing team positioning to minimise risk in high-shrink areas
• Taking ownership of store operations in the Store Manager’s absence (over busy weekends and during their month long yearly vacation).

• Previous experience in a management leadership role.

• Experience in the use of our software packages, Shopify Plus for our POS and e commerce operations, Cin7 Omni for our inventory management and Marsello for our customer loyalty programs (or similar)

• Reliable, flexible and able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Organised and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
